Code of Conduct
Acting responsibly: Our principles and standards
1. Our commitment to responsible action
At Tranquillo, we stand for fair trade, sustainable production, and respectful interactions with people, animals, and nature. This Code of Conduct is our shared framework for responsible corporate behavior. It applies to all employees, partners, and companies along our supply chain.
We adhere to internationally recognized standards such as the core labor standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other relevant conventions and guidelines. At the same time, we want to lead the way with our corporate commitment—for a more colorful, fairer, and more sustainable textile world.
2. Human rights,
Working conditions & fair wages
We constantly question our production processes, initiate long-term changes with our manufacturers, and remain dynamic. Beyond our production processes, we work to keep our company's emissions to a minimum.
2.1 Free choice of workplace
We strictly reject forced, debt bondage, or involuntary labor of any kind. All employment relationships must be entered into and terminated voluntarily (ILO 29 & 105).
2.2 No child labor
The minimum age for employment is 15 years or the legally higher school-leaving age. Young people must not be exposed to hazardous work (ILO 138 & 182).
2.3 Equal Opportunities & Diversity
Discrimination based on gender, origin, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or identity is not tolerated (ILO 100 & 111). We welcome diversity.
2.4 Freedom of association & co-determination
Workers have the right to form and join trade unions and to bargain collectively (ILO 87 & 98).
2.5 Living wages
Wages must be above legal minimum standards and enable a decent life (ILO 26 & 131).
2.6 Working hours & rest
The maximum weekly working hours may not exceed 48 regular hours and 60 hours including overtime. At least one day off per week is mandatory (ILO 1 & 14).
2.7 Health & Safety
Work must be safe and healthy. Our partners take precautions to prevent accidents, provide clean sanitation, drinking water, and safe housing (ILO 155).
2.8 Clear employment relationships
Employment relationships must be documented in writing and comply with the law. Circumvention of social standards is not permitted.
3. Environmental responsibility
Our earth is our home. Therefore, we pay attention to environmental protection, resource conservation, and recycling in our materials, production, and transportation. As a GOTS -certified company, we are committed to adhering to the highest ecological standards—in particular, to using only cotton from certified organic farming.
Our partners also rely on tested, resource-saving raw materials for our home products and avoid the use of harmful chemicals — in line with our environmental standards.
We are aware that environmental responsibility does not end with the selection of sustainable materials — energy consumption, transport routes, packaging solutions and the handling of returns are also part of a responsible overall concept for us.
4. Animal welfare
We respect the life of all living beings. Our partners must ensure the five freedoms for animal welfare, including freedom from hunger, suffering, stress, and the opportunity to behave naturally. Mulesing or other practices that violate animal welfare are prohibited. We rely on credible animal welfare certifications such as the RWS.
5. Integrity & fair competition
Corruption, bribery, or the taking of unfair advantage have no place at Tranquillo. We expect transparent, fair, and lawful business relationships. Gifts, donations, and sponsorships must be handled appropriately, documented, and free of dependencies.
6. Supply chain & social responsibility
Our responsibility doesn't end at the factory gates. Together with our partners, we aim to identify, prevent, and, where necessary, remedy human rights risks. Special protection is given to vulnerable groups such as women, children, migrants, and minorities.
Our suppliers have agreed to our Code of Conduct, actively implement it and are committed to passing it on within their own supply chain.
7. Communication & Complaint Management
Responsibility also means listening. Our requirements must be accessible and understandable to all involved. Effective complaint systems—anonymous, secure, and transparent—are equally important. Together with our partners, we create space for feedback so that we can correct grievances and learn from them.
8. Implementation & continuous improvement
Our management is responsible for the implementation of this Code of Conduct. We rely on audits, transparency, and regular reviews. We seek constructive solutions in the event of violations. However, we reserve the right to terminate our cooperation in the event of serious or repeated violations.
